INTER COLLEGE EXTEMPORE SPEECH COMPETITION ON “ONE STEP TOWARDS CREATING CLEAN AND SAFE ENVRIONMENT”

ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), as part of the Child Friendly City Initiatives Dimapur-Choumudkedima, commenced a Youth and Civil Society Organizations’ campaign on 17th June 2023. The campaign began with Inter College Extempore Speech Competition held in the City Law College, Burma Camp, Dimapur. The theme for the competition was, “One step towards creating clean and safe environment for children”. The main objective of organizing the competition was to bring the youth together in an open platform and provide an opportunity to express their views and strategies towards creating clean and safe environment for the children. The participants delivered their speeches with great confidence and left no stone unturned to give in their best on the topics of the competition. They shared their views in the time slot of 3 minutes. The judges had a tough time selecting the best three candidates from the 25 passionate participants. The participants were judged on the criteria of content, presentation and body language. The participants showed great fervour and poise in their respective presentation. The competition concluded successfully with great words of encouragement and appreciation from the respected judges. The judges for the competition were Dr. T. Limanochet Jamir, Principal, City Law College, Burma Camp, Ms. Vitono Gugu Haralu, Spokesperson & Secretary of Exotic Echo Society, Radio Jockey, Community Radio and Mr. Mhonjan Humtsoe, President, Team Better Dimapur. Earlier the welcome address was delivered by Advocate Elizabeth Thungjanbeni Ezung, Asst. Professor, City Law College. Ms.Garrol Lotha, Project Coordinator, Child Friendly Dimapur, AIDA, briefed on the concept of youth and Civil Society Organization campaign 2023. Ms. Shemang S. Phom, Child Mobilization Officer, CFD, AIDA delivered the vote of thanks. The program was moderated by Mr. Gaisanglung, Civil Society Mobilization Officer, CFD, AIDA. The 25 students-participants represented 13 colleges in and around Dimapur; i.e. S.D.Jain Women’s College, Unity College, North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research, St. Joseph University, Pranabananda Women’s College, Eastern Christian College, Cornerstone College, Tetso College, SM College, Immanuel College, Salesian College, Patkai Christian College, City Law College participated in the competition. Almost, 73 youth and educators witnessed the competition. Ms. Khrorite-ϋ from Tetso College emerged as the winner, Ms. Limayala Aier from Patkai Christian College won the first runners up while Ms. Medemien Lemtor from Unity College bagged as second runner-up. The winners were awarded with Trophies and certificates, while cash award was sponsored to the winners by Team Better Dimapur. Consolation prizes with certificates were also awarded to all the participants.
